Dental Associates of Quincy honors Dr. David Keller on retirement after 40 year career with practice
Dental Associates a comprehensive, multispecialty dental practice serving the region since 1947, today announced the retirement of Dr. David Keller of Sharon, who has served the dental needs of Quincy and surrounding communities for more than four decades.
Dental Associates will honor Dr. Keller at a reception Wednesday, March 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. at their offices at 66 McGrath Highway, Quincy.
Dr. Keller joined Dental Associates in 1975, under the leadership of Dr. Sumner Hirshberg, founder of Dental Associates. In reflecting back on his four decades with the practice, he said, “I have really enjoyed my time here. This is a great place with great people, the thousands of patients I have treated, and the people I have worked with.” He quipped, “Sometimes, even on a day off, when I’m driving through Quincy, I’ll automatically turn into the office, it’s been that part of my life.”
Dr. Keller received his DMD cum laude, from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1972. After Tufts, he completed specialty training in Periodontics at the Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry in 1975. From the years 1972-1975, Dr. Keller completed an Internship at the Brockton VA Hospital. From the years 1975-1979, he was a Clinical Instructor at the Boston University Dental School. Dr. Keller is an active member in the Massachusetts Dental Society, the South Shore District Dental Society, the American Academy of Periodontology, as well as the Massachusetts Periodontal Society. Dr. Keller was formerly on staff at the Quincy Medical Center, Beth Israel Hospital, as well as Somerville Hospital.
The Boston native studied at Boston Technical High School and recalls that he briefly considered a career in engineering because he liked to build things. “As I went along, I became interested in learning about disease processes, and it came to me that dentistry would be a great way to use my hands and also stay true to my wish to learn more about medicine and health.”
Dr. Keller and his wife live in Sharon; they are parents to two daughters and are also proud grandparents to two grandchildren. One of Dr. Keller’s daughters, Lauren, is a hygienist with Dental Associates, and the other daughter is a nurse practitioner at Boston Medical Center.
Dr. Lewis Hootnick, principal at Dental Associates, said, “Dr. Keller has been a great member of our Dental Associates family for a very long time. He has helped thousands of patients during his career and I know that the community joins with me in wishing Dr. Keller a long and happy retirement.”
